Whistleblowing in Residential Childcare
The Whistleblowing in Residential Childcare course provides essential training for professionals working in children’s homes to understand their duty to report concerns about poor practice, misconduct, or abuse. It explores the legal and ethical responsibilities surrounding whistleblowing, including the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998, and reinforces the importance of safeguarding and accountability within care settings. Participants will learn how to recognise situations that may require whistleblowing, the correct procedures for raising concerns internally and externally, and the protections available to those who speak out. The course also addresses common barriers to whistleblowing, such as fear of retaliation or loyalty to colleagues, and equips staff with the confidence and knowledge to act in the best interests of the children in their care.
