PACE Parenting Model

This training course provides a comprehensive exploration of the PACE model (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy), a relational approach developed by Dr Dan Hughes to support children who have experienced trauma, loss and attachment disruption. Grounded in attachment theory, neurobiology, developmental psychology and trauma-informed practice, the course equips residential childcare staff, foster carers and professionals with the theoretical understanding and practical skills needed to implement PACE effectively. Through detailed scenarios, reflective questions, and real-life applications, participants learn how to create emotionally safe environments, build trust, and support the healing and development of children using consistent, compassionate and attuned interactions.
